Girl killed, two hurt in fresh Indian shelling at LoC.

MUZAFFARABAD -- A teenager was killed and her mother and a boy were injured in Haveli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Saturday in heavy Indian shelling from across the Line of Control (LoC), officials said.

Rashid Naeem Khan, deputy inspector general (DIG) of police for Poonch division, of which Haveli is an administrative unit, told Dawn that the shelling started at about 10:30am and continued till 4pm, during which Indian troops 'indiscriminately' targeted civilian population in Hillaan, Kalamulla and other villages of Khurshidabad subdivision.

In an affected house in Kalamulla, a 35-year-old woman, Zahida Shabbir, was injured and her 14-year-old daughter, Iqra Shabbir, was killed, he said.

In the same village, he added, a nine-year-old boy, Saddam, was also injured by the shelling.

According to the DIG, the shelling also left one house gutted and another partially damaged in Hillaan village. However, he said, casualties were averted there as residents of both houses had already taken shelter at a safe place.
