Gilani's victory success of democracy: opposition.

PESHAWAR -- The opposition parties have congratulated Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on his victory in the Senate elections and described it a success of democracy in the country.

They asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to admit his failure and step down.

In their separate statements here on Wednesday, ANP president Asfandyar Wali Khan, PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam and PPP provincial president Humayun Khan said that Gilani's victory was ample proof of the defeat of Prime Minister Imran Khan and success of Pakistan Democratic Movement, an alliance of opposition parties.

Asfandyar Wali said that after the defeat of government candidate for Senate from Islamabad, there was no moral ground for Imran Khan to remain as premier any longer. He said that Senate elections infused a new spirit in PDM and the opposition parties would further step up their anti-government movement to rid the country of the rulers.
