G-6, G-7 and G-10 sub-sectors and two phases of Ghouri Town to be sealed.

ISLAMABAD -- The capital administration has decided to seal six more localities that have become hotspots for the coronavirus tomorrow (Wednesday).

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Hamza Shafgaat said on Monday that G-6/1, G-6/2, G-7/2, G-10/4 and Phase 7 and 8 of Ghouri Town will be sealed following a surge in Covid19 cases. A notification to seal these areas and deploy the police, army and Rangers is being issued.

`People residing there are being informed that these areas will be sealed by Wednesday, so they should prepare, including by buying essential commodities,` Mr Shafgaat said, adding that the localities will be sealed in the af ternoon or in the evening.The population of each of the sub-sectors G-6/1, G-6/2, G-7/2 and G-10/4 is around 7,000 to 8,000, he said.

The police have been asked to identif y areas that will need to be closed off to seal the localities.

Inthe next36to40hours,allthe concerned authorities including the administration, healthcarestaff andpolice,willmakearrangements to lockdown these six areas ef fectively, Mr Shafgaat said.

Work is in progress to effectively lockdown the two phases of Ghouri Town already.

There were 117 cases of Covid-19 and one death reported from G-6 and G-7 as of June 1, along with 102 cases and a death in G-10, administration officials said. Between June 2 and June 21, the number of cases and deaths in G-6 reached 422 and four, while 451cases and12 deathshave been reported in G-7 and 420 cases and four deaths reported in G-10.

This month, some of the areas most affected by the coronavirus outbreak have been G-9, I-8 and I-10. Two sub-sectors of each were sealed by the administration earlier.

However, Lohi Bher has had the highest number of Covid-19 cases so far with 717, followed by 580 from I-8, 524 from G-9, 511 from I-10, 488 from Bhara Kahu, 473from G-8, 451 from G-7, 422 from G-6 and 420 each from G-10 and Tarlai.
