From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1972: Fifty Years Ago: Labour talks fail.

KARACHI -- The crucial Government-labour talks broke down following a brief meeting of the labour leaders with the Provincial Governor last evening [June 14]. In fact, the meeting lasted just for five minutes. The grim-faced labour leaders later announced that no agreement could be reached as the Government had taken a very stiff stand. The governor, Mir Rasool Bakhsh Talpur, however, indicated that the Government was willing to go to a reasonable extent but would maintain law and order as well as industrial peace and productivity, at all costs.

Meanwhile, the strike in the industrial areas entered the seventh day today, and about 1,000 industrial units at SITE, Landhi and Korangi units remained idle. The labourers have...
