Fresh fruit, vegetables not available at Ramazan bazaars in Hassanabdal.

TAXILA: The tall claims of the local administration have proven to be false as consumers visiting the bazaar in Hassanabdal even after Ramazan 7 could hardly find fresh vegetables, fruits and other items.

Prices of these items are also not different from the ones that are being sold in the open market.

The district administration has set up six Ramazan bazaars in different areas of Attock district and it is claimed that heavy subsidies have been given for offering all daily use items including edibles at cheaper rates to the citizens. However, the ground reality appears somewhat different.

According to citizens, most of the food items are available in these bazaars but with zero price differences. The bazaar established in the city does not provide any relief to the masses and could not attract consumers.

Citizens say no difference in prices of items being sold in open market

They are of the view that due to the district government's incompetence and poor local administration, the idea to establish bazaars has miserably failed.

Daily wagers and the salaried class find it difficult to make both ends meet in the holy month of Ramazan as grocery prices go through the ceiling.

Visit to this bazaar revealed that the majority of the bazaars set up by the government failed to attract citizens because of the price factor.

It was observed that none of the stall holders and vendors display price lists and violate the rates fixed by the district government that were finalised after consultation with traders and price control committees. Surprisingly, the management of the bazaar, led by the local administration, is taking no action against vendors and stall holders involved in increasing prices.
