ISLAMABAD -- The capital administration on Wednesday unsealed G-6/1, G-6/2, G-7/2 and G-10/4.

A notification issued by the office of the deputy commissioner said that the sub-sectors were unsealed after a detailed survey, contact tracing, group surveillance and testing of suspected Covid-19 patients.

It said the reopened areas will still be regulated by prevailing section 144 orders issued on March 23 and amend from time to time. Violations of standard operating procedures (SOP) enforced to limit the spread of the coronavirus will be met with legal action.

These four sub-sectors were sealed on June 24 to prevent the community spread of the coronavirus in these areas.

Between March 11, when the coronavirus outbreak in Islamabad began, and June 24, 460 cases of Covid-19 and four deaths were reported in G-6, while 485 cases and 14 deaths were reported in G07 and 455 cases and five deaths in G-10. On June 24, G-6 and G-7 had 231 active cases each while G-10 had 288.

The sub-sectors were identified as coronavirus hotspots for residents living in the entire sectors, officials said.

During the 14-day lockdown, 93 cases were reported in G-6, 140 cases and two deaths were reported in G-7 and 90 cases and one death were reported from G-10. Active cases have decreased to 152 in G-6, 197 in G-7 and 147 in G-10.

Prior to the lockdown, G-6 had the sixth most active cases in the city and the seventh most cases overall. It now has the seventh most active cases, while its ranking in the total number of confirmed cases has stayed the same. G-7 had the seventh most active cases and the sixth most cases overall; it now has the fourth most active cast and the sixth most confirmed cases.
