Four cops suspended over death in custody.

SHANGLA -- Four police officials, including station house officer of Karora police station, were suspended on Friday following death of a truck driver in custody on Wednesday night.

The driver was arrested for possessing 110 grams of hashish on Tuesday.

A statement issued by district police officer, Shangla, Malak Ihjaz said that after registering a case under section 302 against additional SHO Nasib Shah and his prompt arrest, the DPO has suspended four more police officials, including the police station head.

It said that SHO Mohammad Sadiq, investigation officer Mohammad Saleem, Muharrar Laeq Mohammad and additional Muharrar Attaullah had been suspended in the custodial death of Ali Akbar Shah, the driver.

The statement said that a judicial inquiry was also launched and the autopsy stuff had been sent to a laboratory in Peshawar to ascertain facts. It said that action would be taken against the police officials, if found guilty.
