Foundation Laid for the New National Blood Transfusion and Research Center

The Mongolian Government and Ministry of Health have decided to establish a new, earthquake resistant building for the National Blood Transfusion and Research Center, capable of storing and supplying enough blood for the people of Mongolia, at the financing of 2.9 billion MNT.

A ceremony to mark the laying of the new center’s foundation took place on July 22. The center is expected to be operational in late 2014.

Deputy Minister of Health, J.Amarsanaa, officiated the ceremony and said, “Because of the unpredictability of nature, repeated disaster, and increasing casualties worldwide, it is vital for Mongolia to collect and store enough blood reserve under proper conditions.
