Former MQM-H man shot dead in Korangi 'targeted attack'.

KARACHI -- A young man, said to be a former worker of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi who is now associated with the Pakistan Peoples Party, was shot dead in what police described as a targeted attack in Korangi on Wednesday.

Police said that Rashid Imam Din, 30, was the third member of his family who was targeted apparently on political grounds as his two elder brothers had met the same fate a few years ago.

Awami Colony SHO Syed Farasat Husain said that unknown assailants barged into a house in Korangi-6 and shot dead before being fled. The victim died on the spot. Later, the body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

The area SHO said that the victim had remained associated with the Afaq Ahmed-led MQM-Haqiqi in the past. However, around two years ago, he had joined the PPP, he said.

He said that the victim was 'actively' involved in land issues at Ilyas Goth of Korangi, which is notorious for encroachment and land-grabbing.
