Forest fire leads to suspension of officials.

KASUR -- On Thursday, a wildlife inspector and six watchers were suspended from their service due to their involvement in illegal hunting and misconduct.

Following an incident of fire on March 19 in the Changa Manga forest, an inquiry was conducted on the orders of the Punjab Wildlife and Parks director general.

The fire caused hog deer to flee their habitat, allowing hunters and their hounds to poach them, resulting in the death of two deer and the displacement of several birds and reptiles.

Lahore Wildlife and Parks Deputy Director Tanvir Janjua stated that the suspended officials were accused of illegal hunting of hog deer and negligence in their duties.

He also mentioned that the fire destroyed a portion of the forest.

Janjua stressed that the department would take strict action against the illegal hunting mafia, which was aiding and abetting the hunters.

The officials who were suspended are inspector Ali Arqam, and wild watchers Muhammad Waleed, Muhammad Afzal, Sardar Ali, Ghulam Ali, Muhammad Arshad, and Jamil Ahmed.
