Flour prices on the rise despite large wheat import.

ISLAMABAD -- It has been reported that flour prices in the country have risen despite the government spending billions to import more than 1.5 million metric tonnes of wheat. In just one week, a 20 kg flour bag has become more expensive by Rs 130 in Peshawar, Rs 80 in Sukkur and Rs 15 in Quetta, while Karachi residents are forced to buy the most expensive flour in the country.

Although the price of flour did come down initially, they are now back on the rise. A 20 kg bag of flour costs Rs 1,330 in Peshawar, Rs 1,200 in Sukkur and Rs 1,265 in Quetta, registering a rise of Rs 130, Rs 80 and Rs 15 respectively.
