Flood victims in Lower Dir get cheques.

LOWER DIR -- The Al-Khidmat Foundation, charity wing of Jamaat-i-Islami, on Tuesday distributed cheques worth of Rs2.1 million among 74 owners of the flood-hit houses in Balambat tehsil under its 'Tameer-i-Watan' programme.

A function to this effect was held at the Balambat Ahyaul Uloom.

AKF central deputy general secretary Fazal Mahmood, district president Hafeezullah Khaksar, former MNA Sahibzada Yaqub Khan, JI district chief Izazul Mulk Afkari and others were present.

Meanwhile, addressing a board of governors' meeting of Aghosh Al-Khidmat Gulabad Center here the other day, Fazal Mahmood said the foundation had so far spent Rs5 billion on its post-flood relief and rescue operations across the country.

He said the foundation planned a donor conference in March, and he was hopeful philanthropists would extend full support to it.
