Five suspects held after 'encounter' in Gulshan.

KARACHI -- Police claimed to have arrested as much as five suspects in injured condition after an alleged encounter in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Sunday.

Aziz Bhatti police said that the encounter took place at Hakim Saeed Road near Federal Urdu University where after encounter five suspects were apprehended in wounded condition.

The suspects were identified as Abid, 21; Aslam, 17; Zubair, 25; Ahsan, 18; and Anwar, 26. However, one of their accomplices managed to escape from the spot.

The police claimed to have recovered five pistols along with rounds, 20 mobile phones and three motorcycles from their custody.

The injured suspects were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Meanwhile, Steel town police also claimed to arrest a suspected robber after an 'encounter' at Link Road near Soomra Goth in Malir. The suspect has been identified as Mohammed Ashraf, 50, while his accomplice managed to escape.

The police recovered one 30-bore pistol from his possession, and shifted him to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
