FIR against SSP, five inspectors in 'custodial killings' case ordered.

SANGHAR -- SSP Zeeshan Shafique, five inspectors and 20 policemen are to be booked on the order of Additional Sessions Judge of Khipro Inayatullah Bhutto in a case pertaining to death of two suspects in what has been alleged to be a 'custodial killing'.

Sanghar police had on May 20 claimed to have killed Ali Hyder Roonjho and Soomar Mahar in two separate encounters. Describing them as robbers, they had also claimed that they were shot dead in the limits of the Jhol and Perumal police stations. However, heirs of the deceased had contested the claims insisting that they had been in police custody for days before May 20.

Issuing his order on an application filed by the heirs of Roonjho, the judge on Friday ordered registration of an FIR against Zeeshan Shafique - the then SSP of Sanghar - and five inspectors - Aalan Abbasi, Zulfiqar Pahi, Ishaq Sangrasi, Gulzar Marri and Sharif Jamali - and 20 of their subordinate policemen who have not...
