Field hospital for Covid patients closed down.

SIALKOT -- The district administration has closed down the Corona Field Hospital just after one and half months of its establishment due to alleged mismanagement by the health department, which failed to arrange doctors, paramedics and other basic facilities, especially oxygen cylinders, for coronavirus patients at the field hospital.

The Sialkot district administration established the field hospital at Sialkot Hockey Stadium by spending millions for providing better medical healthcare to coronavirus patients there under the direct supervision of the Sialkot health department.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar inaugurated the 203-bed field hospital on April 29.

Senior officials of the health department confirmed the closure of the hospital after the Punjab government policy to isolate all coronavirus patients at their homes.

However, the hospital's structure still exists there at the Hockey Stadium.

Officials said this field hospital was only meant for the Covid-19 patients.

Officials said all coronavirus patients had been sent back to homes as per provincial government's policy.
