Fawad defends Azmat Saeed's appointment.

RAWALPINDI -- Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Friday defended the proposed appointment of apex court's Justice (R) Azmat Saeed as head of Broadsheet scandal inquiry committee.

'Justice (R) Azmat Saeed Sheikh is a respected and honest man enjoying good repute throughout his carrier but the opposition wanted former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice (R) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice (R) Malik Qayyum like characters to investigate corruption cases involving their leadership,' he added.

'There is no government minister in the committee which is a proof that it will hold impartial inquiry,' he said.

The minister expressed these views while talking to media men after laying the foundation stone of National Centre for Industrial Biotechnology (NCAB) and solarization project at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR).

He said that opposition leaders were worried about their corruption money. He raised question that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz wore expensive designers clothes in every public meeting of PDM and how she get money for such expensive clothes.

He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif was also busy in London in shopping from upscale shopping malls and his sons used expensive cars. 'The people wanted to know their source of income,' he said.

He said that government did not want to put people in jails. 'We just want Mian Nawaz Sharif and Khawaja Asif will return the money they made from corruption and live where they want,' he said.

On the occasion, Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Prof.

Dr. Qamaruz Zaman, Chairman Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research Syed Hussain Abidi, University faculty members, students, deans and directors were also present.
