Favouritism alleged in road project tendering.

CHITRAL -- All Government Contractors Association, Chitral, president Noor Ahmed Khan has expressed reservations about the tendering process of six-kilometre Ursoon road project by Sarhad Rural Support Programme. He alleged that the local contractors were discouraged from taking part in the competition.

Talking to mediapersons here the other day, he said that the organisation should follow the rules and regulations of procurement as laid down by KP Public Procurement Regulatory Authority and Pakistan Engineering Council.

He claimed that presently the organisation was free from all such rules, which gave it an opportunity to favour some competitors over others. He said that they were registered government contractors from Chitral, but the organisation had set such conditions that they were rendered ineligible to take part in the competition. The project manager could not be contacted despite repeated phone calls.
