Farmers complain about canal water theft.

MUZAFFARGARH -- Farmers at the tail end have sought help of the district administration for availability of canal water in Kot Addu.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Ehtesham Anwar held an open court in which many farmers complained about shortage of water at the tail end and accused senior irrigation officials in Kot Addu of stealing water. The deputy commissioner promised to hold an inquiry and that stern action would be taken against the officials involved in theft.

Meanwhile, the irrigation department has failed to collect fine from farmers and 200 cases have been pending with the executive engineer's office of Kot Addu canal division for the last four years. Farmers allege that the EXEN remains unavailable whenever they visit the office to register their complaints.

FERTILIZER DEALERS: At least a dozen cases have been registered against the fertilizer dealers for overcharging.
