Family in the soup for pursuing murder attempt case.

FAISALABAD -- Registration of a case of alleged murder attempt has become a nightmare for a family whose rivals with the connivance of police have two cases -- one of selling narcotics and another of possessing illegal pistol -- registered against two brothers. The trial of the family started when they lodged complaint against Najam Khursheed and three others who, they alleged, injured Naveed Zafar on Oct 22 last. The accomplices of Khursheed attacked Zafar after which the Khurrianwala police registered a case.

The family of Wapda Colony said the suspects threatened them with dire consequences for pursuing the case. They said Khursheed had friendship with Zafar and the two fell out over some issue after which the former shot at and injured the latter.

On Dec 25 last, they said, a Mansoorabad police team, along with some unidentified people, raided their house and one of them went straight to their washroom and came out with a bag that he claimed carried charas.

The plainclothes men, they alleged, misbehaved with the women and all their efforts to call Rescue 15 officials proved futile. Police implicated Aqeel in the case of peddling narcotics and a case (FIR 1032/19) was registered under section 9-C of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997 on the complaint of ASI Umer.
