Extortionist's life sentence commuted to five years in jail.

KARACHI -- The Sindh High Court has commuted the life imprisonment of a man to five years in jail in an extortion case.

An antiterrorism court had sentenced Qadir Mohammad to life imprisonment in 2016 for demanding protection money from a private school's owner by putting him in fear of death in a North Nazimabad locality in September 2013.

The convict through his lawyer had challenged the trial court order before the high court and after hearing both sides and examining the evidence, a two-judge bench of the SHC headed by Justice K.K. Agha converted the life term into five years.
