'Extortionist' held by Rangers.

KARACHI -- The Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Friday claimed to have arrested a suspect over charges of extortion.

The paramilitary force along with police conducted an intelligence-based action in Surjani Town and detained the suspect, Shahbaz Khan, said the Rangers spokesperson.

He had demanded Rs500,000 in protection money from a trader of Taiser Town on January 9 and sent a chit containing a bullet to the trader and threatened him with kidnapping his son in case of non-payment.

The trader called the suspect at a place for giving him the money and in the meantime, he also informed the Rangers helpline.

The paramilitary force utilising modern technology tools detained the suspect from the place where he had gone to collect the cash. He was handed over to the police for further legal action.
