Experts for treatment of breast cancer at early stage.

PESHAWAR -- Speakers at a seminar here advised women to contact doctors in case of breast problems at early stage to ensure treatment if they were affected by cancer.

The seminar titled 'Recent advances in diagnosis and non-surgical management of breast cancer,' was held at Peshawar Medical College (PMC) on Wednesday. Social Welfare Society of PMC organised the event to create awareness about breast cancer, said a press release.

Addressing the seminar, Prof Abid Jameel, head of the oncology department at Hayatabad Medical Complex, informed the medical students on different techniques to ensure diagnosis of breast carcinomas and provide better treatment to the patients.

He said that new standard investigations like 'liquid biopsy' and 'gene expression profiling' for early and convenient diagnosis of breast cancers were extremely helpful.

Prof Abid said that recent advances in the diagnosis, surgical treatment and management of breast cancer were in use throughout the world. He added that doctors in Pakistan should adopt the new technology and treatment protocols to safeguard women from the sicknesses.
