Exhibition held to familiarize farmers with modern farming techniques.

MUZAFFARABAD -- The Department of Agriculture, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (DOA-AJK) organized an agricultural exhibition here on Thursday to spread awareness among local farmers about agri farming, agro-medicines and machinery.

The exhibition -- inaugurated by Minister of Agriculture Sardar Mir Akbar Khan -- featured stalls of fruit, vegetables and agricultural products locally produced by various farmers and units of the agriculture department. Stalls set up by farmers of Muzaffarabad, Jhelum Valley and Neelam district attracted a large number of people.

While visiting the stalls, Minister Sardar Mir Akbar received a briefing from DOA Director Khawaja Masood Iqbal about locally produced olive products. The minister praised the efforts of the department and said that connecting to the land was the need of the time.

He further said that agriculture sector was the biggest contributor to the national economy. "We can improve our economic condition, and raise state revenue by increasing the agri production to meet our domestic need locally.
