Ex-nazims seek honorarium, facilities.

MANSEHRA -- Former nazims of the village and neighbourhood councils have warned that they will stage street protests if the government fails to provide them with honorarium and other facilities two years after the end of the local government system in the province.

'The local government system [in KP] was wrapped up in 2018 but we are still deprived of due honorarium, office rent, refreshment and utility bills,' former nazim of Shawal Mazullah village council Mohammad Saleem Khan told reporters after a meeting of the nazims of over 38 village and neighbourhood councils in Balakot tehsil on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by former nazims of the entire Balakot tehsil.

The participants decided that they would agitate if the government didn't release Rs288,000 dues of every village and neighbourhood council nazim.

Mr former nazim said every village and neighbourhood council nazim had paid rents and telephone and electricity bills and met other refreshment and other expenses from own pockets, but they still didn't get due funds.
