TO educate the younger generation about Islamic history, Prime Minister Imran Khan has instructed Pakistan Television network to air the Turkish historical drama, Dirilis Ertugrul.

The series presents extensive violence with gory scenes in quite realistic manner. Consequently, this may adversely affect children psyche.

Hundreds of studies indicate that violence based TV programmes may negatively affect children as they may: 1) become immune or numb to the horror of violence; 2) begin to accept violence as a means to solve problems; 3) imitate the violence they observe on television; and 4) identify with certain characters, victims and/or victimized people and adopt their characteristics.

Countless studies are available that prove beyond a shadow of doubt that extensive viewing of violence by children causes greater aggressiveness.
