EPD staff directed to expedite drive against dengue.

LAHORE -- Punjab Environment Protection Department (EPD) Secretary Dr. Naeem Rauf has directed to speed up the anti-dengue campaign all over Punjab and warned the officials of negligence in this regard.

During a field visit, Rauf inspected an under-construction building in Gulberg Town area where dengue larvae was present in large quantity. During the visit, Dr. Naeem directed Director (EDH) Naseem Shah to expedite the anti-dengue campaign. He directed that the premises where dengue larvae was found, would not be opened until the responsible persons would clear the building of the larvae and they would also submit a legal affidavit or undertaking that such act of negligence would not happen again.

Director General EPA Punjab Ambreen Sajid also visited under-construction sites in Garden Town where dengue larvae was present at multiple places. The DG said all squads of EPA are working vigilantly and she herself is heading the entire operations.

EPA Spokesman Sajid Bashir said so far anti-dengue squads have inspected 181,499 sites in entire Punjab and issued 1,263 notices and got registered dozens of first information reports from January 2022 to June 28, 2022.

From June 1 to 28, as many as 31,619 places were inspected by anti-dengue squads and 197 notices issued while the squads removed 761 sources from the sites, he said.
