Environmentalists and water experts urged Sindh govt to ensure just distribution of water in Badin.

BADIN -- The water experts, environmentalists, farmers and growers from various areas gathered at Tando Bago Press Club on Saturday to participate in a moot on nagging crisis and its devastating impacts on the environment, agriculture and ecology in Badin district . The moot was organized by the leaders of Save Badin Action Committee to press Sindh government to release the required quality of irrigation water in the canal irrigating Badin district. The noted environmentalist and writer Professor Mushtaq Mirani speaking on the occasion depored that due to worst water crisis in the coastal district had already wreaked havoc with environment and ecology of the district for past many years.

" The people of Badin district during past two decades have suffered a lot due to nagging water crisis simply because the due water of their share is not being given to them" he said and added that it was high time exert more pressure on the government to devise the strategies to face the monsters by framing the sustainable policies and plans. . He warned that the environmental degradation being caused by artificial water shortage and subsequent deforestation and sea intrusion would bring more widespread devastation in the whole region if the remedial measures were not taken timely by the rulers. He fully supported the demand of farmers regarding the removal of blockages, stopping water release in the flood canals and theft of water by the influential people.
