Enumerators in Larkana, Mirpurkhas threaten to boycott census.

LARKANA -- A large number of enumerators engaged in digital census demonstrated in Larkana and Mirpurkhas on Monday and threatened boycott of ongoing census drive in protest if the government failed to provide them fuel for their vehicles and daily allowance.

Carrying computer tabs, Abdul Rasheed Jatoi, Barkat Ali Kalhoro, Nadir Janveri and others, who led the protest outside Larkana Press Club, said that they were assured by their supervisors during training for the census that they would be provided transport facility or fuel for their vehicles as well as daily allowance of Rs6,000.

'We are using our motorcycles to go to villages of Pirsher, Rasheed Wagan and many settlements in riverine area within 20 kilometre radius to perform duties assigned to us, and we have spent Rs10,000 so far from our own pockets since the exercise has begun but the department concerned has not provided them transport, fuel charges and daily allowances,' they complained.
