Enumerator to be booked for lodging fake robbery case.

BAHAWALNAGAR -- Police will take legal action against an enumerator doing census duty, for getting a false robbery case registered with the Shehar Farid police station on March 20.

In the FIR registered with Shehar Farid police, Waheed, a schoolteacher of Bedana Sharqi, claimed he was performing his duty during the ongoing digital census at Chak 129 Muraad in the limits of Dahranwala police when two armed motorcyclists intercepted him. He alleged the armed men snatched his official computer tablet on the Bedana Sharqi road and fled away.

Police sources told Dawn that during investigation the police found no evidence of the robbery, using geofencing and other modern methods, and decided to interrogate the complainant. The complainant first gave contradictory statements to the police, however, he confessed later that actually he had lost his tablet somewhere and concocted the robbery story to avoid any departmental action.
