Encroachments.

THE Lyari expressway is the only ring road or bypass that provides freeway across Karachi. It took almost a decade to have both its tracks functional because of a variety of reasons, like political, financial, etc.

But as now it is fully functional and providing two-way facility to cross through the city easily, one should not forget to maintain its structure. The Lyari river also serves as the biggest drain outlet for drainage and rainwater in the city, but, unfortunately, encroachments have started under the expressway along the riverbed. All this can be easily seen by anyone using the expressway.

When you start your journey from Sohrab Goth, you can easily identify some shanty towns and makeshift houses already in the riverbed before Hassan Square, a rickshaw stand in Liaquatabad, garbage sorting site, a mosque, two football grounds, and one old livestock market that has been now turned into a park.
