Eight more fall prey to Covid-19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

PESHAWAR -- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded eight more coronavirus deaths on Sunday as the number of total persons passed away due to the infection reached 180.

Of the fresh fatalities, six were reported in Peshawar and one each in Mardan and Dir Lower, according to daily situation Covid-19 report of the health department. Peshawar has recorded a total of 111 deaths from the pandemic, followed by Swat with 14 and Mardan with nine fatalities so far.

A total of 3,129 cases have now been confirmed in the province while 83 patients have recovered from the infectious ailment, making overall number of healed patients 811.

A total of 222 new cases were reported including 131 from Peshawar, making the total count of the infected people in the provincial capital 1,197. The freshly confirmed patients included 18 from Dir Lower, 13 from Swat, 11 from Khyber, 10 from Mardan, six from Malakand, five each from Dir Upper and Nowshera and four each from Haripur and Bannu.

After Peshawar, most cases (197) have been recorded in Swat, 183 in Mardan, 142 in Malakand, 107 in Buner, 91 in Dir Upper, 87 in Dir Lower, 83 in Mansehra, 73 in Abbottabad, 65 in Kohat, 53 in Shangla, 48 in Bannu and 31 in Dera Ismail Khan.

Except Kohistan Upper and Kolai Palas, all the districts in the province are now endemic for the Covid-19.

Peshawar, the hardest-hit district, has also registered 67 recoveries. Buner has recorded 65 recoveries, Mardan 64, Dir Upper 60, Swat 56, Mansehra 55, Kohat 48, Abbottabad 46, Charsadda 26, Nowshera 25, Shangla 22, Bannu 20, Bajaur 19, Swabi 16, Hangu 14, Kurram 11, Karak and Dera Ismail Khan has recorded 10 recoveries.

Meanwhile, Provincial Doctors Association president Dr Amir Taj Khan has asked Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to announce financial assistance for the doctors and health staff engaged in fight against Covid-19.

In an application on Sunday, he pointed out that all the frontline health employees should be extended help to encourage them in the battle against the virus.
