Early diagnosis can save diabetic patients' lives: health experts.

ISLAMABAD -- Overall diabetes prevalence in Pakistan is almost 19pc and over 522 million people are currently living with diabetes globally, early diagnosis and treatment of diabetes could save millions of lives.

This was stated by health experts at an event by Pakistan National Heart Association (Panah) at Ayesha Lasani School.

The event was held in connection with the World Diabetes Day, which is observed on Nov 14 every year. Secretary General of Panah Sanaullah Ghumman said that 90pc of diabetic patients have type 2 diabetes, which is largely preventable through regular physical activity, a healthy and balanced diet, and the promotion of healthy living environments.

He said risk factors may include genetic, being overweight, gestational diabetes and polycystic ovary in women.
