Dykes being built in Lakki ahead of monsoon season.

LAKKI MARWAT -- The district administration has launched work on construction of dykes to mitigate flood losses in low-lying urban and rural localities during monsoon season in Lakki Marwat.

Several parts of the southern district received pre-monsoon torrential rain on Thursday while heavy rain also lashed its urban and rural areas on Friday and Saturday.

Rainwater caused flash floods in water courses and inundated roads, thus causing inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians.

The Tajazai-Dara Tang portion of Bannu-Mianwali road passing through Lakki city was inundated at several places. The road is already in bad shape though it linked Lakki Marwat city with rural areas of the district and the neighbouring districts. The rains also exposed poor maintenance of the road.
