Duty judge adjourns Rana Sana case.

LAHORE -- A duty judge of a special court for Control of Narcotics Substance (CNS) on Saturday simply adjourned trial proceedings of a drug case against former law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan while regular incumbent had also been notified.

The federal law ministry appointed District and Sessions Judge Shakir Hassan as new presiding officer for the court. The judge will resume his new posting after a formal notification by the Lahore High Court about handing over his service on deputation to the federal government.

The special court had been waiting for its regular incumbent since Aug 28 when judge Masood Arshad was restrained by the 'authority' through a WhatsApp message from working in the middle of the proceedings of the drug case against the PML-N leader.

During the Saturday's hearing, Duty Judge Khalid Bashir told the defence and the prosecution that he could proceed on urgent nature matters only. He said since new regular incumbent had been appointed the trial will resume formally on next hearing.
