DSP-SHO tussle leads to removal of both officers.

HYDERABAD -- A tussle between the Phuleli DSP and Pinyari SHO finally resulted in the removal of both police officers and institution of an inquiry ordered by the additional inspector general of police, Hyderabad region, on Thursday.

The inquiry officer, Sujawal SP Suhai Aziz, assisted by two other officers, has been directed to fix responsibility.

'SHO Panhwar has been cold-shouldering the DSP on almost all official and unofficial matters of his police station because he wants to command his area independently and without sharing anything with any other officer,' revealed a source who is aware of the bone of contention.

Phuleli DSP Faheem Ahmed Farooqui and Pinyari SHO Niaz Panhwar had been at odds, allegedly over patronage of illegal businesses.

The dispute also involves patronage of the mainpuri business (which has been declared unlawful by the Sindh High Court) in almost every district of Hyderabad division.

The patronage is done through some hired men called 'beaters', who supervise the entire operation clandestinely.

SHO Panhwar was reported to have laid hands on the DSP's beater in some other matter while DSP Farooqui's grievance was that he does not have any respect in his area because of the SHO's attitude towards him in police-related matters.
