Dr Pasha appointed University of Education VC.

LAHORE -- The governor on Friday appointed Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha as vice-chancellor of the University of Education (UoE), Lahore, for four years, according to a Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) notification. He was selected for the post on the recommendation of a search committee for a tenure of four-year.

Prof Pasha has recently completed his second term as VC of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and has been served as acting VC of the Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Bahawalpur since April 2018.

During Prof Pasha's terms, the UVAS got position in the top world universities of Asia in The Times Higher Education and QS World University rankings and nationally has achieved third position in Higher Education Commission Sports Ranking of Public Sector Universities and stood among top 10 universities of the country.

He also secured over a dozen development projects from federal and provincial governments worth Rs10.9 billion and won three international projects - one funded by Australia and two by the American government.

Prof Pasha took measures to develop a strong liaison with the industry, promoted community services, developed policy frameworks for the Punjab Livestock Department and established a Veterinary Academy for providing in-service training facility of advance veterinary education and professional development to the professionals. Up to 23 new degree programmes were also introduced in his tenures.

Prof Pasha was conferred the Sitara-e-Imtiaz civil award by the president of Pakistan in 2016 for his outstanding performance in veterinary science. He was earlier awarded with Best University Teacher Award by the HEC in 2009. He is a PhD in animal nutrition from the West Virginia University, US, and has about 40 years professional experience in education, research and education administration to his credit.

He published 140 research papers in refereed scientific journals, supervised 142 MPhil and 23 PhD students. He drafted the PC-1 of the UVAS Lahore.
