Downpour damages orchards, houses in Bajaur, Shangla.

BAJAUR/SHANGLA -- Heavy rain coupled with strong winds damaged vegetables, fruit orchards and uprooted trees in different areas of Bajaur tribal district, while flash floods damaged several houses in Shangla on Friday.

Local residents said that the downpour in Bajaur started on Friday afternoon and lasted for about an hour. They added that unusual windstorm coupled with rain and hailstorm took place in almost all areas of the tribal district, damaging vegetable crops and fruit orchards. Boundary wall collapse incidents were also reported.

According to reports the windstorm also uprooted a large number of trees in the region. Uprooting of trees also caused closure of roads in several areas of the district.
