Doctor diagnosed with Covid-19.

TAXILA -- A doctor at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) in Attock has tested positive for Covid-19, a day after a nurse at the same hospital was diagnosed with the disease.

The new cases have caused panic among staff at the hospital, where a number of Covid-19 patients are being treated.

According to district health authorities, the number of Covid-19 cases are increasing at an alarming rate in Attock, with an escalating number of confirmed and suspected patients. Close contacts and relatives of all 97 confirmed patients are being tested for the disease.

The district's focal person for Covid-19 Dr Asif Arbab Niazi told Dawn on Thursday that the number of suspected Covid-19 patients has continued to rise.

He said there have been 1,922 suspected casesso far, of whom 97 were positive, 1,585 were negative and the results of 240 are awaited.
