Discontinuation of fee reimbursement scheme protested.

GILGIT -- The students of Karakoram International University blocked the KKH near Chowngi area here the other day to protest discontinuation of Prime Minister's Fee Reimbursement Scheme for Least Developed Areas.

The protesters accused the university administration of not letting them appear in their final semester examinations on Monday over nonpayment of fees.

They said that the decision had impacted over 950 students.

A large number of students, including females, boycotted the classes and marched from KIU to Chowngi, the entry point of Gilgit, where they blocked the KKH.

Tasawwar Hussain, an MSc student, said the decision had affected hundreds of students of M.Phil, PhD and masters levels.
