Digital census termed 'conspiracy to turn Sindhis into minority'.

KARACHI -- Calling the ongoing digital census 'unconstitutional and illegal' and a 'conspiracy' to turn local population of Sindh into minority, leaders of nationalist parties, human rights activists and legal experts have demanded an immediate stop to the huge national exercise and spending its funds on rehabilitation of the flood victims across the province.

After multiple speeches from different leaders and notables representing different segments of the society, a seminar hosted by the Awami Tehreek at the Karachi Press Club unanimously passed the resolution making demand to 'stop the conspiracy to turn Sindhis into a minority through immoral, unconstitutional and illegal digital census'.

Earlier, in his address AT president Lal Jarwar questioned impartiality of the federal government which despite strong objections of the people of Sindh is still conducting the census.

'The people of Sindh believe that the census is not only a problem of human counting, but is a question of the historical existence and survival of the Sindhi nation,' he said. 'During the last 75 years, the state has been oppressing and doing injustice to the small ethnic communities through force and power while extracting their natural and mineral resources.'

The resolution passed by the seminar also accused the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of 'criminal conspiracy' by staying silent despite protest by Sindh and its people.
