DHQ hospital staff goes on strike to demand dues.

KHYBER -- Services at the operation theatre, ultrasound and X-ray units and medicine store were suspended on Monday when paramedical staff of the District Headquarters Hospital, Landi Kotal, went on a strike for fulfillment of their demands.

The association's chairman Dr Awais said the medical superintendent had stopped payment of their legal share in the income from the hospital's laboratory, X-Ray and ultrasound departments.

He threatened the paramedics would shut the OPD for an indefinite time if their dues were not paid immediately.

Medical superintendent Dr Jamshed Sherani said the share the technical staff was getting from the earnings of ultrasound, X-Ray and laboratory had long been suspended by the health department. He said he was also short of the required funds to properly run the hospital.
