Death toll reaches 203 as coronavirus claims nine more lives.

PESHAWAR -- The number of deaths due to Covid-19 in the province reached 203 as nine more patients passed away on Wednesday and 213 new cases of people suffering from the disease were reported.

According to daily situation report released by health department, the number of confirmed Covid-19 patients increased to 3,712 in the province.

Peshawar reported six deaths, whereas one person each died in Swabi, Mardan and Malakand.

Peshawar is leading the provincial death toll from the virus with 125. The provincial capital also reported 91 new cases, making its total count 1,471.

A total of 939 people have so far recovered from the infectious ailment as 64 more patients have been discharged from hospitals after their recovery, according to the report.

213 new cases registered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made for Covid-19 patients at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH). He has ordered launching of testing services to expedite diagnosis services to overcome the threat posed by the epidemic in the province.

The chief minister, who is also chairman of task force on Covid-19 in the province, on Wednesday visited LRH and inspected the facilities for the virus-affected people. He ordered the relevant authorities to accelerate efforts to reduce mortalities from the infection, said a statement.

Flanked by Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz, Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Adviser to Chief Minister Ajmal Wazir and Health Secretary Imtiaz Hussain Shah, the chief minister was briefed about the measures taken for the management of the patients at the province's biggest health facility.

Dr Khalid Masud, the hospital director of LRH, informed the chief minister that a separate block with a capacity of 250 beds was dedicated to coronavirus patients in the hospital where 306 health workers including doctors, nurses and paramedics were deployed.
