Death in manhole: Three MC officials face disciplinary action.

BAHAWALPUR -- Three officials have been held accountable by an investigation committee for the drowning of an elderly man in an open manhole of the Bahawalpur Metropolitan Corporation (MC) last year.

Dawn learned that Atta Muhammad drowned on Sept 22, 2022, in the open manhole in Katchi Abadi, Tibba Badar Shair.

The incident sparked a public outcry in the area, and an inquiry committee, headed by the revenue additional deputy commissioner, found the sanitary supervisor, sub-engineer and municipal officer negligent, and recommended that a disciplinary action be taken against them.
