DC visits heritage building after protests against qabza mafia.

HYDERABAD -- Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fuad Ghaffar Soomro on Wednesday visited Government Jamia Arabia High School - a protected heritage site - following reports that a hotel had been opened on its premises.

The Hyderabad DC visited the site after protests by teachers and students of the school against the hotel opening. The protesters backed by traders and businessmen of the area were running a campaign against the hotel.

In their written statement, they said the hotel was illegally opened by 'qabza mafia' on the school's property. They said that such information had been given to the Hyderabad commissioner, education department officers, Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) and concerned police station.

The hotel owner, they said, put chairs in front of the school, which created hindrance to the students of the school and college. Even pedestrians could not pass through the area, they added.
