DC orders spray after locust attack in Karak.

KARAK -- Deputy commissioner Shah Rukh Ali Khan directed the forest department on Sunday to conduct spray in affected areas after swarms of locusts attacked standing crops and fruit orchards in parts of the district.

Reports from various areas of the district said that locusts had badly damaged crops and fruits. In this regard, farmers of Badeenkhel and Tarkikhel led by Kalo Khan, a local farmer, tried to force the locusts to flee from the olive orchards in mountainous range of the area.

The farmers said that locusts had damaged the fresh fruit of olive, resulting in losses to them. They said that locusts had also damaged other standing crops.

They demanded of the forest department to take measures for killing the locusts to protect their crops from further damage.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner asked the forest department to conduct spray in all the affected areas.

ROAD REPAIR DEMANDED: Elders of Isak Chountra, Dabb, Sangani, Saratkhel and Pashikhel have demanded of the government to reconstruct the Niazi Well-Palsosar road, saying it was badly damaged by heavy vehicles transporting sand from the area.
