APROPOS the letter 'Torture and custodial deaths' (Oct 10). The police in Pakistan are not as trained as they should be. Another flaw in our policing and justice system is the non-inclusion of criminologists. The British introduced the incumbent police system to establish their rule in the subcontinent and maintain law and order. This system needs to be modernised to meet the needs of the 21stcentury.
