Covid-19: traffic police.

UNDER the current health situation owing to Covid-19, Karachi traffic police have miserably failed to implement the standard operating procedures for drivers and passengers.

IT is a common site to see rickshaws on roads loaded with six to eight passengers. Buses and minibuses are also fully loaded and most of the passengers, and even drivers, do not wear masks.

The Sindh chief minister has also publicly said that traffic police are not doing enough to implement SOPs. A regards the ban on pillion riding for motorcycles, this is only adding pressure on the already overstretched public transport system.

Pillion riding is still a safe option as you know the person sitting behind you. Using fully loaded public transport you have more chances of contracting coronavirus from unknown persons.

We cannot improve the efficiency of our police without making drastic changes...
