Covid-19 claims record 18 lives in Punjab.

LAHORE -- Punjab has reported record 18 deaths of Covid-19 patients in a day on Tuesday besides 491 new confirmed cases of the virus.

Of 18 deaths, eight occurred in Lahore, seven in Gujranwala and one each in Faisalabad, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, taking the toll in Punjab to 144 so far.

An official said 25 more patients in various public sector hospitals across the province were reported as 'most critical'.

He said according to the reports the health department received from hospitals, chances of survival of 13 of them are rare because of their critical condition.

From the total new confirmed cases reported on Tuesday, 349 were from Lahore, another high number of new patients tested positive in the provincial capital during 24 hours.
