Covid-19 claims 46 more lives: Murad.

KARACHI -- Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday said that overnight Covid-19 claimed 46 more lives and infected 1,708 lifting the death toll to 1,572 and the tally of cases to 96,236.

In a statement issued here from CM House, he said that 46 more patients lost their lives while struggling against coronavirus lifting the death toll to 1,572 that constituted 1.6 per cent death rate.

He added that 1,708 new cases emerged when 12,479 samples were tested which constituted 14pc detection rate.

The CM said that so far 514,905 samples had been tested against which 96,236 cases were detected. He added that the detection rate came to 19pc.

Mr Shah said that 679 persons recovered after contracting coronavirus and added that the number of patients recovered so far had reached 53,855 constituting 56pc recovery rate.

He said that currently 40,809 patients were under treatment, of them 38,875 in home isolation, 327 at isolation centres and 1,607 at different hospitals.
