Court summons Mansehra DC over JUI-F leader's arrest.

MANSEHRA -- The Peshawar High Court's Abbottabad Circuit Bunch has summoned the deputy commissioner of Mansehra district today (Thursday) over the arrest of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader Mufti Kifayatullah under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.

JUI-F district information secretary Maulana Saeed Abdullah told reporters here on Wednesday that the court had asked the DC to appear before it and defend the issuance of warrants for the arrest of Mufti Kifayatullah.

He said lawyers Kamran Murtaza and Ahmad Farooq Khan would defend the detained JUI-F leader's bail plea in the court.

The police arrested Mr Kifayatullah in Islamabad three days ago and kept him in the Haripur Central Prison.

Mr Abdullah insisted that Mufti Kifayatullah had neither delivered any hate speech nor instigated people against the country and its institutions.

He said the detained JUI-F leader received donation from the party's workers only and that he didn't challenge the government's writ by inviting people to participate in party's Azadi March in Islamabad.

A fire destroyed Rs10 million goods in a house of Shahdoar area in Oghi tehsil on Wednesday.

House owner Abdul Razzaq claimed that the fire was caused by electrical short-circuit.

He said the residents used water and sand to put out the fire after learning that two fire tenders owned by the Oghi tehsil municipal administration were out of order.

Meanwhile, burglars took away cash and valuables from six shops in Jahgir area of Garhi Habibullah town on Wednesday night.
